Feeling Isolated in Dementia Caregiving? Meet Our "Forget Me Not" Dementia Support Group

Caring for a loved one after a dementia diagnosis can feel incredibly isolating. As cognitive decline begins to impact the people we love most, it’s easy for families and caregivers to feel like they are marooned on an island, navigating unchartered and turbulent waters all by themselves.

If you’ve been feeling this weight, we want you to know you do not have to walk this path alone. At Family Ties Senior Placements, we are dedicated to helping families maintain dignity and enhance the lives of everyone involved in the caregiving journey. That’s why we host our monthly dementia support group, "Forget Me Not"—and our next meeting is tomorrow!

Meeting Details:

📅 When: Tomorrow (The first Wednesday of every month) at 2:30 PM

📍 Where: The Jewish Community Center (JCC)

💜 Who: Family members, friends, and caregivers of those living with dementia.

Why Join a Dementia Support Group?

When life gets busy, adding another appointment to the calendar can feel overwhelming. You might think, "I don't have hours to spare just to talk." But a support group isn't just about passing the time or venting; it is an investment in your own well-being and the quality of care you provide.

Here is how stepping out of your daily routine for just a short while can radically change your caregiving experience:

1. You'll Form Meaningful Connections

The absolute best part of a support group is the immediate sense of community. The moment you walk through the doors at the JCC, you are surrounded by people who truly get it. They understand the grief, the frustration, the small victories, and the unique challenges because they are living through them too.

2. Discover Practical Tips for Ongoing Caregiving

Every mind is different, but many caregiving hurdles are shared. In our "Forget Me Not" group, members swap real, actionable advice. From dealing with sundowning and communication barriers to navigating local medical resources, you will walk away with practical tools to make daily life smoother and more dignified for your loved one.

3. Reclaim Your Peace of Mind

Caregiver burnout is real. Taking an hour for yourself to share, listen, and breathe is a vital form of self-care. By supporting your own mental health, you return to your loved one with more patience, energy, and strength.

Maintaining Dignity Together

A dementia diagnosis changes a lot of things, but it doesn't change the inherent worth of your loved one. Our group focuses on ways to honor their dignity while helping you preserve your own peace of mind.

See You Tomorrow!

Don't stay on that isolated island for a moment longer. Join us tomorrow at 2:30 PM at the Jewish Community Center for community and comfort.
